“Who Am I?” is Emem Archibong latest single and can best be described as a Christian anthem or church anthem. The song reminds listeners of their identity in Christ, encouraging them to be more concerned with what God thinks of them than the opinions of others.
The singing pharmacist wrote the song and performed both the lead and backing vocals, while the track was produced by London-based producer Luke Grant.
The song reminds listeners that we are children of the Most High God, co-heirs with Christ, part of the worldwide Church, and people called to live according to the teachings of the Bible. It encourages believers that, despite the challenges of life, our God-given identity gives us the strength and resilience to withstand tests and trials. What was meant to break us can instead make us stronger when we remain focused on who we are in Christ.
“I wrote Who Am I? at a time in my life when I struggled with my identity as a teenager and young adult. I remember sitting in church when the pastor announced that God had dropped a song into someone’s spirit. I went home and wrote the words that flowed out of me into my songbook. During the process of writing this song, I discovered who I was in Christ by reading His Word and listening to sermons on the topic,” says Emem.
She hopes the song will encourage others who may be going through similar experiences.
This release follows in the same vein as Emem’s previous songs, which have received coverage on blogs worldwide, radio airplay across the UK, Nigeria and the United States, as well as television airplay in both the UK and Nigeria.
