Gospel artist, el Mafrex invites listeners on a heartfelt journey back to his roots with his latest release, “Christ Obong” — a vibrant declaration of love for Jesus Christ, the King. Translating to “Christ, the King” in the Ibibio dialect of Akwa Ibom State, Christ Obong is a contemporary reimagining of a cherished traditional gospel song.
Inspired by memories of his childhood, el Mafrex recalls singing the original version alongside his grandmother — a moment filled with joy, movement, and spiritual connection. “This song brings back those sweet days when my grandmother would sing and dance,” he shares.
It is designed to be a simple sing-and-dance song.
