Artist Spotlight: Nigerian Gospel Hit Producer Derrick Wonder ||

Oghene-Igbunu Egwero, also known as Derrick Wonders, is an Award-Winning Music Director, Music Producer and multitalented instrumentalist. He was born on the 13th of June 1991 and was raised in Sapele, Delta state. He holds a Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication.

He picked up interest in music at an early age of six, then started playing the drums at age ten, and has improved to be able to play three musical instruments including the drums, keyboards, and bass guitar at expert level. 

At a teenage age of eighteen, he founded the gospel music band – Royal Priesthood Family (RPF) – that hosts the annual SAPELE ALIVE; the biggest music concert with an average attendance of over 7000 people in SAPELE. SAPELE Alive has so far, hosted the likes of Onos Ariyo, Freke Umoh, Preye Odede, Victor Atenaga, Okey Sokay and other local gospel psalmists. 

He has served as Music Director in a few churches and music bands, including House on the Rock Asaba, and the last Reinhard Bonke’s crusade held in SAPELE 2009, where he successfully raised about a thousand man mass choir for the crusade.

He also served as Music Instructor and Lead Keyboardist in TREM Headquarters Lagos, as well as, other high profile artistes, including, the Stella award-winning female saxophonist Angella Christie, Phil Thompson, PSquare, Patoranking, Onos Ariyo, Sammie Okposo, Patricia Kings, Timi Dakolo, and many more. 

In the last decade, he has produced some hit songs including Ezebube Live by Neon Adejo, I Believe by Jessica Kioja, Baby Mi by Zadok, amongst others.

While currently working with a few artistes, and on some music productions, he is serving as the Technical Director and keyboardist of the Logic Church Lagos, and he is the personal pianist of Dr Flourish Peters.
