Nigerian-born, U.S.-based indigenous Gospel artist Joy Okeke is set to release her powerful new single titled “ODOGWU” on February 28, coinciding with her birthday celebration. The release will be accompanied by an official music video.

“ODOGWU,” an Igbo word meaning Great Warrior, is described by the singer as more than just a musical project, but a deeply personal testimony of God’s faithfulness through seasons of challenge, waiting, victory and triumph.

According to Okeke, the song reflects her lived experiences of divine intervention and unwavering grace.

“ODOGWU is more than a song, it is my testimony. Through every challenge, every season of waiting, every victory and every trial, God has been faithful. He has fought my battles, lifted me when I couldn’t stand, and shown Himself mighty in my life,” she said.

The forthcoming single celebrates God as the defender, protector and mighty warrior who secures victories for His people. With indigenous Gospel influences and strong cultural expression, the track blends heartfelt worship with vibrant praise elements designed to inspire both reflection and celebration.

Okeke noted that the song serves as a declaration of God’s power and a call for listeners to remember His goodness in their own lives.

“This song is my praise, my gratitude, and my declaration of God’s power and faithfulness. I pray that when people listen, they are reminded of God’s greatness in their lives too, to dance, worship and rejoice because the Great Warrior never fails.”

The music video, scheduled to drop simultaneously with the audio release on February 28, is expected to visually amplify the theme of victory, strength and gratitude that defines the song.

Industry observers note that indigenous Gospel music continues to gain global recognition, particularly among diaspora communities, with artists blending African language, culture and contemporary production to reach wider audiences.

With “ODOGWU,” Joy Okeke positions herself within that growing movement, offering a sound rooted in heritage while delivering a universal message of faith and triumph.

The single and video will be available on major streaming platforms upon release.
