Artist Spotlight: Uche Agu Aka ‘Uche Double Double’

Uche DoubleHe is amongst a new breed of worship leaders that God is raising in these last days to bring forth revival, glory and power to the present generation through praise and worship. Close to his heart is evangelism by fire and raising a generation of God fearing worshippers. Uchechukwu Godstime Agu was born in the eastern part of Nigeria, Onitsha in Anambra State to be precise on May 3, 1979 to Pastors Isikau and Lovelyn Bruno. His parents brought him up in the way of the Lord. At the tender age of three years old, the cute little boy had already began to show signs of great stage presence as he would sing and try to minister to his family members. It was at this point that his father prophesied
that he will be a great music minister. His upbringing in the church choir setting gave him an intimate understanding of praise and worship at a very young age. After high school the plan was for him to study law at the University of Port Harcourt before he obeyed the call of God to
ministry. He then moved to Kenya in search of God’s plan for his life. In Kenya, he served under the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Nairobi where he learned to speak Swahili fluently. He later moved to South Africa where he faced many hardships but was determined to obey God and build himself. While in South Africa he received a Diploma in theology from the World Harvest theological College and also served as minister of music at Alleluia Ministries under Pastor Alph Lukau before the double double anointing overtook him like a flood.

In 2009, He was miraculously referred to Joyous Celebration, the largest Gospel choir in Africa. He was selected after auditions and that year he added his quota as he led the exuberant praise “My God is good” which instantly became a hit track and has affected praise and worship in thousands of churches around the World. It currently has over 2 million views on YouTube. He remained with the choir for three more years as they toured many southern and eastern African countries. He followed up “My God is Good” with three more amazing tracks, Big God, Solid Rock, and Overflow in 2010, 2011, and 2012 respectively. At this point, he had establish himself as a pioneer in blending American Gospel music styles and African music to form an amazing sub-division of the Praise and worship music genre.

During this time, he visited many countries in Europe, Africa and South America. He has been privileged to share stages with the likes of Israel Houghton of the New Breed, Chevelle Franklyn, the Veteran Lionel Petersen, Dr. Panam Percy Paul, and Pastor Benjamin Dube. He has also
ministered before great speakers like, Bishop Clarence Haddon, Bishop T.D Jakes, Rev. Alph Lukau, Bishop David Oyedepo, Bishop Kenneth Ulmer, Pastor Ray Macaulay, Dr. Myles Munroe, Pastor Brian Houston (Hillsong Australia), Pastor Mathew Ashimolowo (KICC London), Pastor Casey Treat, Pastor Randy Morrison, Apostle Nike Wilhiem (Temple of Praise International), Pastor Wale Akinsiku (House of Praise, RCCG), Pastor E.A Adeboye and many others.

In 2011, his passion and the desire to give God excellent praise and worship propelled him to visit the United States for the first time. Through God’s divine connection, he began working with his current management company, Truflow Media. In the years to follow, he made huge strides in the U.S. In 2012, he was invited by Stellar Award winning artist Tye Tribbett to record on the “Greater Than” project in Miami and Los Angeles. He also had the privilege of ministering with the likes of Byron Cage, Dr. Ron Kenoly, Eddie James, Charles Jenkins, Mali Music, and Juanita Bynum. He was also priviledged to minister at the largest Gospel concert in Ghana alongside Donnie McClurkin at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In 2012, God began to bless him with songs for his new album. These songs were not just new but they had a new sound, a cross over sound, a big and bold sound, an international sound and an anointed sound. So, the search for a producer who is spirit filled and had the capability to accomplish this feat began. Through prayer and fasting, God directed his steps to Clay Bogan III, a prolific composer, producer and song writer. He is also the producer of the world renowned praise and worship leader William Mcdowell. The live recording for the upcoming album took place in Houston, Texas on April 19, 2013. The team for the recording comprised amazing people such as drummer, Chris Coleman; New Breed vocal coordinator, Daniel Johnson; and live recording genius Danny Duncan. The album is schedule for release in the fall of 2013.

Uche has a burning desire to give back to his community and support the less privilege around the world. His ministry has given him the opportunity to visit many countries around the world and experience how people live and he is determined to do something to help. The Uche Foundation was birthed during a visit to the town of Klaas Creek, close to Paramaribo the capital city of Suriname in South America. The foundation will be fully operational in 2014.

Uche is consistently propelled to be a leader and an inspiration by his responsibility to his four younger brothers, Sam, Precious, Miracle and Thank God.
