Grammy Award-winning artist Bishop Hezekiah Walker, one of the pioneers of contemporary choir music, is slated to release his 14th album on June 11th, titled Azusa Next Generation.
The album is tied to the work of the Azusa Next Generation conference, an event created by Walker that brings together the nation’s most prominent pastors, speakers and worship leaders, ultimately revitalizing a defining moment in the Christian faith. The next conference will be held May 19 at the Jacob Javitz Center in New York.
Of the new album, Walker says: “This project honors the legacy of hand-clapping, foot-stomping Gospel music, and also provides a next-generation swag that creates a foundation for where Gospel music can go. The album’s lead single, “Every Praise,” is already gaining momentum as a must-hear tune at radio.
Bishop Walker’s famed Love Fellowship Choir is prominently featured on the project, but is also expanded to comprise the 500-voice Azusa Mass Choir. Collabos on the project include Donnie McClurkin, John P. Kee, Brian Courtney Wilson, Timiney Figueroa-Caton and Deitrick Haddon. The incomparable Donald Lawrence heads up production on the project.
