Music Video: Classic – ‘Keep it 100’ [Official Video]

Marchall “Classic” Breidel was born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and his parents are from Suriname origin. Around the age of four his mother fled with his older brother and two sisters from their father. They have lived several years in various shelters and then finally got a house. After about eight years that he has not seen his father, he and his brother visited their father and at the age of fourteen he decided to live with his grandma so he was closer to his father. His grandmother took him to church and at the age of fourteen he decided to accept Jesus and was soon baptized. But one year after growing up in a Christian environment, he had moved back to his mother because she insisted that he had to come back. Once back at his mother, he had no support for continuing to serve God, so from that moment his life went downhill.

He began hanging out on the streets instead of school and soon was living the lifestyle of a gangster. He was twice sent to prison because he was involved in smuggling and selling drugs. In the year 2000 he was sentenced to two and a half years imprisonment. After one month imprisonment, he and four other inmates escaped from prison but after five days he was again arrested after the police had received a tip. Once back in prison, he began reading the Bible on the advice of a fellow inmate. God confronted him through His Word and he had to make a decision. The choice was whether to continue leading a life as a gangster and die young or to repent and return to serve Jesus and live. He made the choice to break with sin and live a new life with Jesus Christ.

Around the age of twelve he got inspired by different rappers and started making music. He discovered that he had talent to rap and even while he was involved in criminal activities he continued making music. Once in a while he went to record a song but it was never meant for the public. It never came so far to become an artist and to give performances because he was too deep in the street life. After his conversion he had some songs recorded and performed a few times in churches, and he received compliments from several people. And then there was a silence.

He became a church usher at Maranatha Ministries and together with his wife they became cell group leaders. Occasionally he was approached with the question whether he is still making music because people think he got talent. His answer was, no I’m too busy. But in the summer of 2011 it began to bubble in his heart to make music. He tried to hide the feeling but it kept coming. When he read an interview with Dwayne Tryumf he was touched by the Holy Spirit of God with what Dwayne said. Dwayne said he first rapped in the world and had stopped but the person who baptized his friend told Dwayne he should use his talent for The Lord. For Marchall this was a confirmation from God to spread the gospel trough rap music. A few years earlier, a prophetess had prophesied a word from The Lord over his life, that he would be a blessing for many . He again began making music and aims to proclaim Jesus Christ to the world as the only hope!!

The song “Keep It 100” is the first official release of Classic and with this song he would like to introduce himself to the world as a true follower of Jesus Christ.

With this song he makes a statement that his conversion is real and that his past life is over. The beat is very catchy and his flow is simple yet strong.

People can expect Christ centered hip hop from Classic without compromising the gospel.

The writing, rapping, beat creating, mixing and mastering are all done by Classic himself. He even did a part of directing the music video.
