Meet King D, an Urban Gospel singer who was born on the 4th October 1991 in Venda, South Africa where he was raised by both his parents Sharon Shonisani Bongwe and Patrick Muthundine Takalani who have been very supportive of his music to an extent that they even paid for his first ever studio time.
This young and vibrant musician started singing at the age of 12 when he became a member of a Christian Kwaito crew named “G-Squad” which was initiated by his spiritual father, Pastor Bono Rambani. By the age of 16 he had started writing his own songs and also then recorded his first R&B single called “Always Loving You” which caused him to be
recognised and loved by many people. At school he was also highly involved in music as he started his own school choir at Tshivhase High, which was very successful and adored by staff members and fellow students.
He finds his inspiration from various artists like Mary Mary, Michael W Smith, Donnie McClurkin, Deitrick Haddon, Colbert Mukwevho and Gladys Night whose good music and careers have motivated him to keep working hard and chasing his music dream. King D is a jack of all trades as he beat boxes, produces, plays instruments like the piano
and drums and is also currently pursuing a BCOM degree in Marketing Management at the University of South Africa.
After this 21 year old musician passed his matric in 2010 he enrolled to study Marketing Management at Boston Media House in Pretoria Arcadia where he met producer and founder of recording label M[usiq] T[o] Y[our] E[ars] Records, Khathutshelo Muruba a.k.a. Ty Domino who exposed him to working with other Venda artists like Percy ‘Postman’
Mukwevho, Rap prince, Bomo Unlimited, Mizo Phyll, F.W.O and L’Costa just to mention a few. This is where he cultivated his talent and made hit singles like ”Still (Uswikela)”, “One Day” and “Dance with Me”.
Earlier 2012 he realised that his passion is winning souls to God’s Kingdom, this led him to the decision of fulfilling his purpose through serving God through his music ministry. He has since co-founded a ministry called “Influential Treasure” which uses Hip Hop/R&B/POP and House music as a vehicle to spread the Good News. King D refuses to be called a celebrity as he says “this is not all about me, but about the purpose and the will of God”. He is a proud Christian fellowshipping and serving in the worship team at Arise and Shine International Ministries. He has a positive message to go along with his rhymes and verses. His lyrics are scripture saturated and minister to both Christians and non-Christians as they serve as a means of evangelism to non-believers.
Here is this blessed dance track from King D entitled “Holy Ghost Party”. Warning!!! Don’t play it if you don’t like DANCING. Lovely.
