Rapsodee, an indigene of Lagos State, was born and raised in the city of Kaduna, Kaduna State, Nigeria. He grew up in the golden era of hip-hop listening to the classics of that time which influenced his direction in music. He started music professionally in the year 2000 and has never looked back since. He dropped a mixtape titled “Rebel Muzik” in 2010. His sterling performance in the viral video “Echo Cypher” is also worthy of note.
On the other hand, Cikk0 is a fast-rising versatile producer. He cut his teeth while under award-winning musical maestro, Cobhams Asuquo. He combines the ability to make mainstream Nigerian sounds with an affinity for international club/house music. With the “Mavrixx EP” he has broadened his style even more. He has worked with Waje on her recent album as well as Timi Dakolo and gospel act Onos. He most recently remixed Bez’s “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly” and Ese Peters’ “Omote” to rave reviews.
The “Mavrixx EP” is a collection of art put together by the unhinged talents of Rapsodee and Cikk0. It is a fusion of Rapsodee’s rhythmic, soulful lines and cikk0’s intricate beats and quirky personality. The content is varied an unconventional. The music veers from serious to playful to admonishing to grave and to downright ridiculous moments. Rapsodee and Cikk0 did not make the music with any demographic or specific tastes in mind. They just made music.
Enjoy…
