With firsthand experiences, Kalil ROS knows the journey of coming full circle in his professional career and personal life. Kalil ROS was born in in Paterson, N.J and his parents relocated to “Sin City” also known as Las Vegas. As a youngster, Las Vegas quickly became the playground for hanging with the wrong crowd. All teens go thru a wild phase; negative behavior, bad influences from the neighborhood and not being productive. He slowly became part of that crowd and was about to go down the slippery slope of a troubled teen on their way to jail. His love for music for music was first saving grace. He did not want to part of the negativity and music was his gateway.
Because music had always been an interest for him, Kalil ROS sought to express himself and his passion for songwriting, poetry and music. While in High School, he and a few friends formed the group Ima’ge, the group had the elements of a classic R and B group and gained some local success, however; something was missing. Eventually, Kalil ROS took a break from the group. He decided to go solo under the moniker Shadow. Shadow which means reflection of self, reflection of God within. His lyrics always had conscious lyrical content in them.
Kali lROS had a vision and an awakening within himself. He felt the presence of God speaking to him as a messenger of the Word. Being a rapper spreading the Word of God now would be his second gift. He would transition totally into Gospel Neo Hip Hop where he could focus delivering God’s Word/Gospel and being the artist that he loves to be (Neo-Soul and Hip Hop). Kalil ROS says writing material is effortless now that he is filled with the Holy Spirit.
