Montel Dorsey & MUniversity is a dynamic collective of singers and musicians appointed to spread a powerful message that will inspire people to focus on their relationship with God over religious practice. The group’s fearless founder Montel Dorsey formed this consortium of artists, dubbed MUniversity, as a way to nourish and development new musical gifts and create a pathway for the world to hear emerging talent. Montel Dorsey & MUniversity is rising in Gospel music with a strong foundation and is establishing a legacy of excellence through their ministry and forthcoming album LOVE OVER HATE.
LOVE OVER HATE will release on Dorsey’s MUniversity Records label with distribution via eOne (Entertainment One) on March 17. LOVE OVER HATE contains a super charged mix of urban gospel, worshipful ballads and churchy high-praise tracks. Bringing heat to the album is the lead single and urban gospel dance infused banger “Celebrate” which features vocal appearances by singer Ruth La’Ontra (courtesy of Tyscot Records), Farrin Sherelle and rapper Janoir.
“Celebrate has a contemporary sound and tells my personal story of salvation and the revolution that occurred in my thinking when I went from being religious to having relationship with God,” Dorsey shares. “I want people to be able to celebrate in the midst of their trouble or trauma.”
Dorsey, a songwriter, musician, producer, choir director and Pastor, obtained his first opportunity on a national platform as a choir member of the choir that delivered the legendary Timothy Wright hit “Come Thou Almighty King”. Dorsey went on to work with notable Gospel artists Melvin Crispell, James Hall, Byron Cage, and Hezekiah Walker.
In 2015 Dorsey started MUniversity Records and formed Montel Dorsey & MUniversity. MUniversity continues to grow as an impactful multicultural group of Christ enthusiastic young people and seasoned artists with voices and musical talents traversing a myriad of musical styles and sounds. Through LOVE OVER HATE, Dorsey and his MUniversity aim to empower believers, lead the lost to Christ and be the voice for the discounted.
