Ahead of the release of his new album, The Transition of Mali, due June 2 (via Bystorm Entertainment/RCA Records), Mali Music shows his lighthearted and upbeat side with the release of his video for “Gonna Be Alright”, premiering exclusively today on Billboard.
Coming off of the popularity of his previous Grammy-nominated album Mali Is…, Mali returns to the music scene with a fresh, modern-sounding jam. In the video, Mali evokes nostalgia, parodying iconic television shows like Fresh Prince of Bel Air, The Brady Brunch, and Martin. The visual flips the inspirational tone of the song into a depiction of pure joy mixed with a dash of humor.
Mali comments on the video saying, “The video is fun! It reminds me of simpler and better times.” What times are those? “Those days when the shows on TV helped us escape and believe. I want it to be something that makes the viewers smile.”
In a recent interview with Billboard, Mali noted on what to expect for the album saying, “I feel like we covered all matters of the heart. There’s things we can dance to, there’s things we can relate to. I feel like it’s a quality album that I can’t wait for to be out.”
