Malawi’s Christian rap artist Suffix dropped his highly anticipated Dethrone EP. This is the project that features eight international artists.
Dethrone is a concept of how man, deep in his heart, has replaced God with many idols hence all the disorders in our society, churches, homes etc..not until God takes his place in our hearts, and man fully submits to Him, we will not find the path. But either way, God still is the INKOSI (King) of all, whether we choose to submit to Him or not.

We had a listen to the rapper’s fresh 7-track EP in its entirety. Better yet we indulged Suffix to give us a track by track breakdown, concept and inspiration.

1. Ndinakakhala Judge
This is the only single I had to put out off my EP, and it seems most people had a problem understanding the joint. I was inspired by my pastor’s sermon where he mentioned something like “How do you feel when you see God being gracious towards someone you consider to be more wicked?” To be honest, a lot of people would be happy to see those who practice homosexuality burn but have you ever reached out to them to share the good news of Christ to them? So, under the sun there is no perfect judge, God is. If He is being patient with a sinner like me, why not extend the same grace to other people?
2. Guilty ft. Olivia & Mista Gray
We are all born sinners. On this song all I wanted to say is that I can never change myself, I have no power to. It’s only God through His power who can change my heart.
3. Exhibit A ft. Olivia & Regenerate
You know how people feel like when someone in the church circles has so much influence, the idea is that they are more closer to God than those in the audience? So some people do stumble a lot in the process of fighting for approval or recognition. My point was, you are already accepted by King of Kings Jesus Himself, so you don’t need to start rapping or doing poetry to please me or some influential poet that you know.
4. Talent ft. Olivia
This is my favourite song. I wrote this at a point I was going through a lot. God has a way of humbling His own for their own good. My talent is not bigger than the chief of art Himself.
5. Lameki ft. KBG
I have come to realise that most African parents do not engage in sensitive conversations with their children, hence children learn stuff from TV, radio and internet. For instance it’s sort of awkward to talk about sex, masculinity and some others issues that affect me as a guy with my dad, ‘cause of the culture I was raised in. So me and KBG tackled this issue, not fully though ‘cause 16 bars is just not enough.
6. Ziwindi ft. Abel Chungu, Limoblaze, Ruyonga & Tim
The idea of Ziwindi came up when the social media was flooded by issues to do with some of our fellow believers (some very influential Christian rappers) denouncing Christianity and some just falling back, so we thought it wise to stand up for our faith and encourage those who are still in faith. Truth is it’s not easy to be a Christian in this fallen world.
7. Inkosi ft. Mag44, Lilly Million & Church
So despite all the activities in this life that make it seem we have dethroned God, God is still the Inkosi. He is still King.
