Gospel and inspirational rapper Irby has released his latest single, Where Is the Love At, a heartfelt musical tribute to the victims of racial violence in Buffalo, New York, and a call for unity, justice, and love in a divided world.
The track, produced by Tone Jonez, features his soulful voice on the chorus, adding emotional depth and resonance to Irby’s message-driven verses.
The video for Where Is the Love At was recorded on January 25, 2025, at a location of deep historical and emotional significance — the same area where tragic acts of racial violence have marked the city’s history.
On May 14, 2022, a mass shooting carried out by Payton Gendron claimed the lives of 10 Black people at a Buffalo supermarket. According to reports, Gendron spared a non-Black person, apologizing before continuing his targeted attack. This tragedy echoes an earlier chapter in Buffalo’s history: in 1980, serial killer Joseph Christopher — known as the “.22-Caliber Killer” — targeted and killed 12 (some accounts say 13) Black men in the city.
“Some people are trying to erase our history,” says Irby. “I feel obligated to tell our story, not only to remember the past but to honor our brothers and sisters who lost their lives simply for being Black.”
Irby’s journey as a gospel rapper began with a transformative encounter with God in 1999. Before that moment, his attempts at secular rap failed to connect — the words never came together. But after giving his life to Christ, Irby found his voice and purpose, with lyrics flowing effortlessly, this time to inspire, uplift, and spread the message of hope.
Where Is the Love At blends raw emotion with faith-driven conviction, addressing both the pain of injustice and the need for healing through God’s love.
The single is now available on all major streaming platforms.
