The LightOut Project is an initiative of Gaise Baba, a multitalented music artiste and entertainer.
The LIGHTOUT PROJECT is a special intervention designed to counsel, inspire, guide and mentor young students towards a brighter future, using music as a tool.
With the rising influence of peer and social media pressure, sex, drugs, and other vices amongst our young students and youths, it is important to help them channel their energy and curiosity into more productive activities.
In a bid to curb this decadence that breeds in our society and the world at large, the LightOut Project emerged, with an aim to reach out to as many young students out there as possible, renewing their mindset towards a better, safer and healthier life as they navigate through the season of adolescence.
One of the ways this objective will be achieved is through the LIGHTOUT CITYWIDE CONCERT, a unique platform which will use music as a tool to connect with young students all across the country, instilling the right values, character and lifestyle while promoting Confidence, Leadership, Stewardship and Abstinence.
The LightOut Citywide Concerts will target youths, with particular focus on secondary school students (i.e. JSS 1 – SSS 3) as well as their parents, guardians and the general community because as we all know, “it takes a community to raise a child”.
The LightOut Citywide Concerts will kick off in 3 major locations within Lagos State and then span across 10 states within the country. Some of the highlights of the concert will include:
• Musical Performances
• Spoken Word Poetry
• Mentoring and Counselling
• Inspiring Knowledge Sessions
• Panel Discussions
• Question and Answer sessions
• Photo Sessions
The LightOut Citywide Concerts will kick off in Lagos (September – October 2018) and other states will kick off from November 2018 into the New Year.
So far, the LightOut Concert has held across some schools e.g. Kings College Lagos; Greensprings School, Anthony Campus; Queens College, Yaba; Federal Science and Technical College, Yaba, etc and feedback from the event has proven that Music indeed can help attain balance and sanity in every teenage student – emotionally, physically, spiritually and mentally.
The Project Team of the LIGHTOUT Project would like to use this medium to inform the entire public of this great cause and call out for support from individuals as well as organizations, government agencies, religious institutions, etc to join this movement geared towards impacting our future leaders of the next generation.
A renewed generation of young students will not only impact their own lives but also their community, our economy, country and eventually the world. Together, we can create the future we desire!
