Favored Generation to Screen Up to 900 Lagos Students, Award Laptops at Thrive 2026 Outreach | @TomiFavored |

LAGOS, Feb. 26, 2026 — Favored Generation is set to host a one-day Medical Screening Outreach & Youth Laptop Impact Program, tagged Thrive Lagos 2026, targeting between 600 and 900 secondary school students across Lagos.

The outreach will hold at RCCG The Shelter, Okota, bringing together students from 30 secondary schools, primarily those in JSS 3 to SS3 (ages 14–17). A limited number of community members will also be accommodated.

Organisers say the initiative responds to gaps in adolescent access to preventive healthcare and digital resources. Many students in low- to middle-income communities do not routinely undergo basic health checks such as vital signs assessment, vision screening, or blood sugar testing. Health awareness around early detection practices, including Breast Self-Examination (BSE), also remains limited among teenagers.

In addition to health services, the programme aims to narrow the digital divide affecting young people. Selected participants will receive laptops and six-month internet subscriptions under the Youth Laptop Impact segment of the event.

According to the organisers, Thrive Lagos 2026 is structured around a three-pillar model — Worship, Wellness and Opportunity.

The wellness component will provide consent-based health screenings, including vital signs checks, vision tests and blood sugar screening, alongside youth-friendly health education sessions. A referral and counselling desk will be available for follow-up support where needed.

The worship segment will feature a BOW (Building on Worship) gathering designed to encourage resilience, faith-driven purpose and positive lifestyle choices among participants.

The opportunity pillar will culminate in the presentation of laptops and internet subscriptions to five to ten selected students, aimed at strengthening digital literacy and academic advancement.

Organisers project engagement with 30 schools and anticipate screening up to 900 students during the one-day outreach. The programme also targets measurable knowledge improvement in health awareness among participants and expects to issue between 100 and 150 medical referrals for further evaluation where necessary.

Short-term goals include improved health awareness and informed lifestyle choices among adolescents. Medium- and long-term objectives focus on sustained follow-up care, enhanced digital readiness, and the development of a replicable model for youth-focused outreach across other Nigerian cities.

Partnership Call

Favored Generation is seeking partnerships from healthcare providers, corporate organisations, educational stakeholders and volunteers. Areas of support include medical screening supplies, clinicians and counsellors, laptop sponsorship, internet subscriptions, printing of educational materials, logistics and data management.

Dr. Peter Haastrup, Director of Favored Generation, described the initiative as a holistic approach to youth development.

“Thrive Lagos 2026 is about supporting the spirit, soul and body of young people while equipping them with the tools needed to compete in a digital world,” he said.

Interested partners and donors can reach the organisation via info@favoredgeneration.org or through its official website.

The outreach underscores growing efforts by faith-based and community organisations to combine preventive healthcare, mentorship and digital empowerment in addressing the needs of Nigeria’s adolescent population.
