The group, consisting of members Temi Boye (19), Miracle Olu (19), Joy Bakare (19), and Naomi Bakare (16), releases their debut single ‘Control’.
After recognizing their potential, Stella Bakare – worship leader and mother of sisters Joy and Naomi Bakare – encouraged the group to get together in 2015 at their home church, Life Church, Chelmsford. The church has been a strong support system for the group, allowing them to host a yearly concert at which the church have been consistently generous in helping to fund the group’s vision. Their first release has come after the group competed in the Grand Final of renown singing competition OpenMicUK at the O2, placing 4th in the country.
“‘Control’ is an R&B/trap song with a gospel message, telling of the boundless love of God- the main focus of the lyrics being on the fact that no matter how frantic our lives may seem, we can always find peace in knowing that God is still in control,” shares Naomi about the upcoming release. “I think my main aim when putting together this song was to write something that would make the listener feel reassured in Christ, whatever they may be going through.”
Gospel X are looking forward to celebrating the release of their new single with appearances at various events which they have been invited to perform at in the remainder of the year. They are currently putting together plans for their second project, for which the release date is yet to be announced.
This new single was produced by duo K Collective, consisting of members Jonathan Owusu-Yianomah and Enoch John. The producers worked closely with the girls to put this track together, helping them to bring a fresh sound to the UK gospel music scene.
