Veteran Caribbean artist, Sherwin Gardner, is closing out a banner year with a new holiday gem, “With You” (Flow Masters / Tyscot). The urban-pop styled Afrobeat celebrates faith, family and matrimony. Gardner was inspired to write the song to celebrate his first-year wedding anniversary to Dr. Kristin Darville-Gardner, a pediatric dentist in Nassau, Bahamas.
“This year has been a whirlwind with my music, from traveling to having a viral hit,” Gardner says. “Through it all, my wife has been my rock, in prayer and supporting me every step of the way. I wanted to express my gratitude to her with something special, so I wrote ‘With You’ as a dedication. It’s a heartfelt thank you, and all I want this Christmas is to spend time with her and cherish the moments we share.”
The year of 2024 has been one of terrific heights for Gardner who has been performing professionally since the age of five. After three decades of recording success throughout the Caribbean, the Trinidad and Tobago native went global this year. His January release, “Find Me Here (Blessings Find Me),” was a viral smash. The Afrobeat amassed over 1.7 billion TikTok views, 3 million user-generated creations, and over 22 million digital streams. The song brought Gardner social media shoutouts from the likes of Alicia Keys, Yolanda Adams, New Jack Swing producer Teddy Riley, and social media influencer Tabitha Brown, among many others. The song’s success spawned a new mashup with Kenyan Afropop artist, Bien, and an alternate solo rendition in Portuguese for the song’s No.1 consumption market in South America. Gardner was recently honored with a lifetime achievement award at the Caribbean Music Awards at King’s Theater in New York City and was nominated for International Artist of the Year at the Premier Gospel Awards in England. He is also nominated alongside Brandon Lake and CeCe Winans as International Artist of the Year at the upcoming STEPFWD Awards in London.
