As his introduction to the world of Afrobeats and Afropop, USA-based rapper and singer Medi Kay presents his new song “Tolingana.” Finding his roots in the DR Congo, Medi takes inspiration from his country and the values he holds close to him, to create a unique lyrical work to the incredible sounds of Jay Paul Beatz.
In Lingala, BOLINGO means “love” and TOLINGANA means “Let us love one another.” In his song, he inspires listeners to display a heart of love in order to see change in their surrounding environments.

Medi Kay is a young rapper and singer of Congolese descent. Growing up listening to such artists as Charles Mombaya, Denis Ngonde, and Makoma, he brings a musical influence unlike any other in the African music scene today. Â He aims to take a different lyrical approach to afrobeats, delivering a faith-based message as opposed to the more common topics in the genre today, which revolve around money, clubbing, and sex.
Using personal life experiences and the teachings of the Word of God, his goal is to inspire, to uplift, and to encourage youth that are struggling with such issues as depression, sexual immorality, hate, doubt, and apathy. Medi is located in the Washington, DC-metro area.
